Experiment #2: Kosher Salt Bars

Kosher Salt Bars in the MoldCutting Kosher Salt BarsKosher Salt Bars, Up Close and PersonalOther than the yellow being a bit brighter than I was planning, this batch was way more successful than experiment #1. The only things I changed were the type of salt, the fragrance, and the color. I used coarse kosher salt, Pineapple Blossom fragrance, and an FD&C yellow. They look great, and smell fabulous!! I’m now even more convinced that the Dead Sea Salts were causing the oozing in the first batch.

I’m going to take another picture of the first batch so you can see how each bar is standing in a pool of wetness. I might have to move that post to the “Botched Batches” category after all…argh!

    Woo-Hoo! looking good!
I also used the FD&C Yellow…not expecting it to be SOOO bright! lol. I’m still looking for a nice baby yellow that will not bleed

If you want a pale yellow, just use less of the color. Or add some titanium dioxide to lighten it up.
