\"\"<\/a>After making soap for nearly nine years, I finally<\/em> joined the Handcrafted Soapmakers Guild<\/a>. The Handcrafted Soapmakers Guild is the only registered non-profit trade association giving a voice to the handcrafted soapmaker. The mission of the Handcrafted Soapmakers Guild is to promote the handcrafted soap industry, to act as a center of communication among soapmakers, and to circulate information beneficial to soapmakers. Membership is open to those who make and sell handcrafted soap and vendors who provide products and\/or services to handcrafted soapmakers. Here are some of the benefits of being a member:<\/p>\n

Members receive a wide array membership benefits including general and product liability insurance (if qualified), a free hosted webstore, discounted merchant services, inclusion in the Find A Soapmaker<\/a> list and Soap Gallery<\/a>, discounts on the Annual Conference<\/a> and from Vendor Members, and more.<\/p>\n

Members may participate in the Certification Program<\/a> and once certified, may display the Certified Soapmaker logo.<\/p>\n

Most importantly, members have the opportunity, through elections, participation and volunteerism, to shape the direction and future of the HSMG and the handcrafted soap industry as a whole. (all information comes from the HSMG website<\/a>)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The annual conference will take place May 18-20, 2011, in sunny Miami, Florida, this year. I would absolutely love to go, but I figure it would cost me about $1400 to attend.
