I brought my older daughter with me to Screamin Oaks Farm<\/a> on Saturday to sell soap during the Kaw Valley Farm Tour<\/a>. This is the farm where I buy fresh goat’s milk for some of the soaps I make, and the first time I had been a part of the event. Roxane McCoy is the owner of the farm. She was selling goat’s milk, as well as about 8-10 different kinds of goat cheese, and ice cream by the cup made with goat’s milk – banana, caramel, or cookies and cream. My daughter had a cup of the caramel ice cream – it was so yummy! But what really caught her attention most of the day was this:

\nThere were four kitties in the litter – all gray and white, and free to a good home. One little boy took one home with him, and of course, I heard every reason in the book why we should bring one home as well. But, mommy was a meanie and didn’t cave!<\/p>\n

She also got her face painted by a very talented artist who was kind enough to barter with me for some Whipped Shea Butter. Her husband was making all kinds of cool balloon animals, etc.

\nThis wood carver is also very talented. His name is Russell Ehart. He made the pumpkin you see on the ground, another pumpkin, a rooster, and a donkey head while we were there. He showed his portfolio to me which includes full sized Indians, busts of Elvis, Martin Luther King, Jr., John Wayne, and so much more. His largest piece is an 11-foot high rainbow trout! Very impressive!

\nIt was a really windy day and only in the upper 50’s, so I was pretty chilly. But I did sell a lot of soap! Roxane said the traffic was more than double what they had last year. Should be fun to do it again next year!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
