Custom Soap Balls by Great Cakes Soapworks<\/figcaption><\/figure>There’s a nice lady in Pennsylvania who orders ten Citrus Basil soap balls from me every year. They are 2.75 oz. each, which makes them about the size of a tennis ball. She puts her order in at the end of August so that she will have them in time for the holidays. This is the third year I’ve made them for her, and they really aren’t difficult to make. However, last year, I just forgot! Fortunately, since she ordered them in August, and was asking me around October if they were ready yet, I still had time to come through for her! <\/p>\n

This year I decided to make them before she even had a chance to send me her check. I use the hot process, but I do it in the microwave. I know, sounds dangerous, doesn’t it? It’s not as bad as it seems though. I use my 64 oz. pyrex batter bowl, and just cook it for short bursts at half power, stirring in between each time. Fortunately, as soon as you open the door, the soap stops climbing the sides of the bowl – usually. I’ve made soap this way several dozen times, and I’ve only had one actual volcano. Some day I might do a tutorial if anyone is interested. I use this method to make soap balls for embeds as well. <\/p>\n
