I got inspired to make a Watermelon soap right after I heard Heather Robinson-Campbell of Diva Body Products<\/a> talking on Facebook about making hers. Let me just say that I have never been so excited to cut a batch of soap – ever. This Watermelon soap has been the most fun to make, and the suspense was just about to kill me. You see, it has taken three days to get it all done.<\/p>\n

Day One<\/strong>: I made some black soap to chunk up into the seeds, and also made a layer of rind. First, I made a small batch of what I thought was going to be black soap (I had never made a pure black soap before, except for a swirl – you can guess where this is going). Then for the rind, I mixed up a small batch of light green soap, divided it and colored half darker green, and poured strips of alternating colors in the bottom of my log mold. Then I took my bamboo skewer and skwiggled it back and forth across the darker green stripes. <\/p>\n

Day Two, AM<\/strong>: I opened up the mold with the “black” soap inside, and it was a medium gray. Definitely not<\/strong> dark enough to pass as watermelon seeds! So my girls claimed this gray-colored, watermelon scented soap as their own. I quickly made up another batch of black soap – definitely darker this time, and also decided to do a layer of white rind over the green. I melted the oils & butters for the main pink part of the soap, and got the water ready in the refrigerator.<\/p>\n

Day Two, PM<\/strong>: Six hours after making the black soap, I chunked it up, and started making the pink soap. I stirred in the “seeds” right before the pink soap was ready to pour into the mold. After pouring, I covered the top of the soap with plastic wrap and wrapped it in towels to set overnight.<\/p>\n

Day Three, right after lunch<\/strong>: It was finally time to cut the soap!!!! I found the perfect background for the picture in the scrapbook papers at my local Michael’s<\/a>. By the way, the fragrance is right on. It reminds me a little bit of watermelon gum, only better!<\/p>\n
