Help Me Name This Soap!

July 31, 2008 by Amy Warden | 16 Comments

Pink and Green Soap With No NameI discovered Tyler Candles in a little shop in downtown Petersburg, Illinois, last April. My friend Summer and I were having a girl’s weekend away before her third baby was born. We sniffed every candle they had and both of us agreed that their signature scent called “Tyler” was definitely our favorite. I finally got around to mixing some scents together to come up with something similar for some soap. I think it smells really, really great – even if it isn’t identical. Of course I didn’t actually buy the candle while we were there, (what was I thinking??) so I don’t even know how close I am.

Here is the description of the scent according to Tyler Candles:

Bursting with the medley of currant and grapefruit. A dash of green undertones adds an opulent twist! Firmly grounded with confidence!

Give me some ideas for a name for this soap! Somehow, Grapefruit Currant just doesn’t cut it. All suggestions welcome! If I end up using yours, you will of course get a free one. This contest will close Sunday, August 10, and I will announce the winner that day.

Well, the first thing off the top of my head is “Currantly citrus”… or “Currant squeeze”, “Currant juice”, “Grapefruit twist” … well, those are my nominees! LOL!

I love grapefruit smelling things and they are refreshing.
My suggestion for the soap is “Freshly Fruity.”

    Thanks!
    Kathy

“Tropical Passion”, “Passion fruit”, “fruit-O-licious”. Guess it would help if I knew what a currant smelled like. 🙂 Oh well. I do like Kathy’s currantly citrus.

I will give this some thought over the weekend. My first thought is “sparkling grapefruit.” The way that they discussed the candle reminds me of a description of a wine or a little sparkly. Plus, sparkly and energy go together, and grapefruit and green are energizing aromas.

Noticed a heart shape in the soap bar…”Tart Heart” or for the currant “Warm’n Tart”

So I did a little research. Apparently, grapefruit was originally called the “Forbidden Fruit” of Barbados. I had no idea! Did you? I also liked the idea of naming it for the getaway where you discovered a similar scent. That makes it a little more personal and gives you a story to tell if you are asked about the name. So, my suggestion is “Forbidden Escape”. I thought a lot about it, and I think most people are drawn to the things in life that are off limits… (maybe that is because I work with kids…) Anyway, that is my suggestion! Good luck picking a name, it’s going to be hard!
