On the Curing Rack: Frankincense & Myrrh

November 20, 2010 by Amy Warden | 6 Comments

Some of you (*ahem*) have been patiently waiting to see this soap revealed. Since I had a few spare moments this afternoon, I decided to go ahead and take some photos of the soaps I made this week. First up is the Frankincense & Myrrh. It is made with fresh goat’s milk, and the loveliest Frankincense & Myrrh fragrance that I have ever smelled! I used a bit of titanium dioxide to lighten up the top a bit, and colored a bit of the soap with grape mica for the drizzle on top. Purple is a color of royalty, and what better color to represent the gifts that were given to the King of Kings!

My new “trick” was to use a wire whisk to intermingle the lighter layer with the darker one, and to mix up the purple soap to achieve depth of color. Then I sprinkled some gold mica on top for the “spattered” effect. Here is the final result:

Very pretty! I am especially fond of purple and brown together. I love the sprinkling of gold too.

Wow it looks like some kind of cake! Kind of like a desert, that one that you put mashmallow on top of. Looks great though!
