The Status of Goat’s Milk

Love the Goat!
Apparently I have picked the wrong time of year to re-stock my fresh goat’s milk soaps. All the does are pregnant and will not be milked until they kid in another month or two. My original source for fresh goat’s milk is now producing cheese, so she doesn’t have any extra milk to sell to me. I’m looking for a new source, but there really aren’t very many goat farms that are close. One of my friends suggested getting my own goat! Somehow, I don’t think my home owner’s association would go for that. Not to mention the fact that I know nothing about raising (or milking) a goat! There’s a good chance I will be dealing with someone in Tonganoxie, after the milk has “freshened.” Now there’s a term I didn’t know until recently!
For now, I will check my freezer to see if I have enough milk left to make a batch of soap. The two that are completely sold out right now are Creamy Castile and Oatmeal, Milk & Honey. If any of you are needing one or the other, please let me know and I’ll see what I can do with what I might have.

I don’t think my HOA would like me keeping a goat in the my house either!! I had no idea you could make soap with goat’s milk!! The oatmeal, milk and honey soap bar sounds good enough to eat!!
Thanks for stopping by my blog!

I immediately envisioned a goat running around my backyard and then neighbors standing in front of my house with torches. LOL! I soooo wish I lived in the country so I could own all my “live” supplies for soapmaking.

[...] Finding fresh goat’s milk in my area has proven to be somewhat difficult lately. Almost two months ago I mentioned that I might have a source in Tonganoxie, and that’s exactly where we went today. Screamin’ Oaks Farm is owned and operated by Roxane McCoy who has been in the business for over 25 years. Not only does she raise goats, but she also has several kinds of birds, including a large flock of peacocks who are quite loud during mating season, thus the name of her farm. [...]
