On the Curing Rack: Valentines Soaps!

This year for Valentines soaps, I decided to use the tiger stripe technique for both the girls and the guys. The color schemes are similar as well. The guys soap is scented with a custom blend that includes amber, sandalwood, musk, as well as a famous cologne dupe (my hubby wears the real thing!). It’s very dreamy!! Colors are black, white and red:

For the girls, I knew I wanted to use a Pink Sugar fragrance, a super sweet cotton candy scent with notes of bergamot, raspberry, fig, vanilla, caramel and musk. However, it is also known to discolor the soap to a medium to dark brown. I had two different bottles from two different suppliers. One discolors more than the other, so I used the darker one in the black stripes, and the lighter one in the white stripes, and left the pink stripe unscented:

Valentines Soap Names Announcement

It’s been quite a process to finally have names for the new girls and guys Valentines soaps! But what a fun contest! I asked for name suggestions with a pirate theme, and received some really excellent choices. After narrowing down those choices to just five sets of names, I had 128 people vote for their favorite. The first place winner is Kari Vise’s entries of South Seas Siren and Brazen Buccaneer with 48 votes. Congratulations, Kari!! Kari wins one set of Valentines soaps!

In case you were wondering how the other names fared, here are the totals:

2nd place: Queen Anne’s Revenge / Blackbeard’s Gold – 37 votes
3rd place: Pink Passion / Shiver Me Timbers – 23 votes
4th place tie: For Me Mermaid / For Me Matey and Anne Bonny / Calico Jack – 10 votes each

Thank you SO MUCH to everyone who submitted pirate theme names for the girls and guys Valentines soaps. What a wonderful resource you are! Of course, all these great suggestions made it extremely difficult to narrow down the choices…especially since I wanted to make sure the names for both soaps would go together. Some of the names were suggested more than once, so only the first person to suggest that name can win. I’ve left out the submitter’s names in the survey so that votes wouldn’t be swayed by them. It’s possible that there could be one winner for the girls soap and one for the guys soap, or one person might win both.

I know you are all dying to see the choices, but first I want to remind you of what the soaps look like and smell like before you vote:

New Soaps Available!

Ok, now that the regular Valentines soaps are completely sold out, I’ve decided to offer some of the seconds, and half-sized soaps from a test batch. It’s probably too late to get these before Valentines Day on Monday (unless you’re local and want to pick up your order), but there aren’t any rules about not getting some fun soaps for yourself!

I have five of these Sweet Pea & Rhubarb soap seconds available. The green soap was a bit runny, so the stems and leaves got away from me a bit. Some of the white soap isn’t very smooth either. Aesthetically, they are a bit challenged, but otherwise it’s good soap! I sold the first-rate bars for $6.95, so I’m selling these for $4.95. SOLD OUT

The Strawberry Hearts Half-Sized soaps were from one of my test batches. They are first-rate all around, just smaller than normal. Buy them up at just $2.50 each – but you’ll want to hurry since there are only 6 available! These are already sold out!

In other news, I just got a notice from my supplier that the wooden soap dishes are back in stock, so I’ve placed my order! I’m hoping to have them available next week sometime.
