Signs of Spring
It was 80 degrees in Kansas today! On March 5th. Unbelievable! It came at a good time. My five and a half year old baby has been running a fever since Monday morning. Coughing, sneezing, yucky stuff. I called the nurse and she said it was most likely just a virus, so we didn’t go in. By two o’clock it seemed like her fever was down, so when her older sister got home from school, they went outside to play for about an hour. Now, I’m thinking we will likely go to the doctor tomorrow. She seems worse tonight.
However, while the girls were out playing, I was digging around in the landscaping and discovered some signs of Spring. I was so excited, I got out my camera to commemorate them.

Sunny Border Blue

Yellow Day Lilies

Cotoneaster Bush
Of course, I also know that it’s going to get cold again before it gets warmer. Forecast says 50′s and 60′s the next five days or so. I can live with that. I just hope it doesn’t do what it did two years ago in April.

My girls - April '07
Yes, this my friends, was taken on April 14, 2007 in our backyard. The girls loved it, of course! (They still eat snow whenever we have some – what’s up with that?) Snow is great the first few months of winter when you expect it to come. But in April when you are so ready for Spring? Not so much.
How’s the weather in your neck of the woods?

Thanks, Sarah. We’ve ruled out strep, but the cough is the worst part. Just have to wait it out. Ugh.

Well we don’t have any green like you. Just mushy ground today and gray skys’ ugh! Soon though, very soon we will have spring.

We have had some lovely weather here in Pittsburgh! I am so glad spring is on the way.
By the way–I have tried to respond to a couple of comments by e-mailing you back but it never goes through.

[...] might recall earlier this month when I was so excited to see signs of Spring coming up in our landscaping beds. I was also pretty vocal about not wanting any snow this Spring. [...]
