I had someone in New Jersey contact me last week about making some custom soap balls for a baby shower next month. She wanted 30 green pear colored, pear scented soap balls about the size of a golf ball:
This was the first batch of hot-processed soap that I have made in our new microwave, and they processed rather quickly! Each soap ball was formed by hand after the soap cooled. I’m going to let them cure for a couple weeks to make sure they get nice and hard, then ship them off to New Jersey!
I’ve made several custom soap orders in the past. It’s not something I usually seek out, but I am definitely open to requests. Here are a few other examples:
Custom Citrus Basil Soap Balls
Custom Water Lily Soaps

What a neat idea! You’ve just inspired my next new soap:D

Oh good! Can’t wait to see it!
Hi Amy,
Great idea with the pear scented soap balls. Have you attempted anything like these types of soaps before? How do you expect they will hold up in the next few weeks?
Great opportunity. Congratulations!
Boy, all those custom orders look nice -especially the Water Lily in the organza bag! I occasionally do the custom order, labor intensive but very rewarding.
@Michael – Yes, I’ve made lots of hot-processed soap balls in the microwave! Usually for embeds in other soaps, but they hold up great and get very hard pretty quickly.
@Becky – It’s that labor intensive part that keeps me from seeking out those custom jobs! They are fun for something different though!
They look beautiful-what a nice color they are.
Thanks, Michele! When I first added the green, I thought I had added way too much and I panicked. But then I remembered that the soap would lighten as it cooled down, and sure enough, it is just right!
Just curious. Is there a way to make soap balls out of cp off cuts? I don’t hot process and would love to make some balls out of my off cuts.
@Michele – I do that ALL the time with my leftover soap. Anything that gets shaved off when I slice the soap and it’s still pliable. If I don’t have time to make soap balls right away, I will put the soap in a plastic bag while it’s still soft and it will stay that way – up to several weeks even! – until I get around to shaping it into soap balls.
