On the Curing Rack: Nag Champa and China Rain

I quietly made these two soaps in the background during a couple of the Soap Challenges. The Nag Champa soap is actually made with a little bit of buttermilk that I had left from the milk soap challenge. It is nearly ready to sell now! For those who are unfamiliar with Nag Champa, it is a sweet incense fragrance that was requested by one of my customers. It’s a very mellow and peaceful sort of scent. The green mica that I used for the main part of the soap turned quite a bit darker than I expected. I also swirled in some silver, brown, and purple micas, although the purple is now more of a plum color:

The Nag Champa soap will be available at Greatcakessoapworks.com this next week!!

The other soap I managed to slip in while you weren’t looking is a China Rain soap. Remember when I needed to make an extra batch of soap to have a white contrast in the Mokalata soap? Well, this is what I made with the rest of that batch! The supplier’s notes say that the fragrance turns a nice mauve in the soap, so I wanted to see exactly what they meant by that. It does have a bit of a pinkish hue to it. Of course I swirled some white into this one as well for a bit of contrast.

The China Rain scent is also quite sweet, but more floral, with hints of fresh rain showers. In my mind, it’s a soft-spoken soap, suitable for a soft-spoken lady. This soap will be available at Greatcakessoapworks.com around the first part of May.

  1. The color of the Nag Champa is so lovely. This is a fragrance I enjoy too.

Is it alright to ask where your China Rain was purchased? I have some from NG BB DS and I’m wondering where you got yours. I like the color the soap is naturally and your white swirl is so delicate and lovely.

  2. Hi Amy,
Love both your soaps, but the green Nag Champa has caught my interest as I’m definitely a “green” fan. They look super, super wonderful, xx Linda
