Great Cakes Soapworks

I made my third batch of peppermint soap yesterday. The nature of handmade soap is that you really never know how it’s going to turn out from one batch to the next. I changed one ingredient – the red dye – and ended up with something that looks completely different from the first two batches. This time the soap is more speckled and marbled. Really I didn’t change the ingredient, I changed the supplier of the ingredient. Both are sold as “True Red Soap Colorant” but they didn’t give me the same results. Like my 5-year-old daughter says, “It still smells like peppermint!” And that it does.

This batch will be ready on December 19th – the last day of the Christmas sale, and the last day I can guarantee shipping before Christmas. I already had someone pre-order 2 soaps from this batch.
