Mail Carrier of the Year

postalworker Mail Carrier of the YearI have a superior mail carrier. Most of the orders I ship out are sent by US mail. There is this really handy service called Carrier Pick-up – and it’s free. However, you have to set it up on USPS.com the night before you want your carrier to pick up your packages. Back in February I had a hitch. I had the carrier pick-up all set up for a Saturday. The mail came….my packages were not picked up. I ended up taking them to the post office myself. I let the post office know, and figured that was the end of it. But it wasn’t. It was the beginning of a wonderful relationship with my superior mail carrier. The next time I had packages ready to be picked up, my superior mail carrier, Michelle, told me that a substitute had left my packages on my porch. Michelle gave me her cell number and told me to call her if I ever needed anything picked up.

Ok, so I didn’t want to abuse this privilege, but sometimes I get orders in the morning and my mail doesn’t get picked up until right after lunch. I’ve called Michelle maybe five times since February to let her know I have packages to pick up that didn’t get scheduled the night before.

Here is the reason Michelle wins Mail Carrier of the Year: a couple days ago I had two packages to pick up. I called Michelle. She answered her phone WHILE ON VACATION IN CALIFORNIA and laughed when she saw my name on the caller ID, finding it humorous that I was calling her and she wasn’t able to pick up my packages. She then called the girl who was covering her route to tell her to pick them up, and called me back to let me know it was taken care of. Hello?

So what can I do for my superior mail carrier? I would give her a great big gift basket full of soaps if I knew which scents she liked. She always comments that I have the “best smelling packages”. Even the USPS doesn’t know what to do about offering incentives to their employees. What would be your suggestion?

I would definitely give her a couple of your soaps! Is she a walking mail carrier? Perhaps a pedicure gift certificate? I wish my mail carrier was this awesome! You are LUCKY!!

  2. Amy Warden Says:

No, fortunately she has a mail truck! She wouldn’t be able to carry all my packages otherwise. :) I may have to just make up a variety basket and she can pick what she likes and give the rest away.

  3. Michelle Says:

Who wouldn’t like a variety basket of handmade soap? I sure would!

What about a coupon for a free bar of soap or other product of her choice once a month or quarterly, or however often you wished to allow it? I wish I had a reliable mailcarrier… actually, at this point, I just wish I had a regular mailcarrier! Nobody wants our route anymore, so we have a different carrier every other week! lol

I have one I wish to nominate to! He is like Santa clause I swear, the service they provide (city-link) is amazing, so fast and a very friendly guy. Weather never stops him or neighbors free-roaming dogs.
