It’s a Pumpkin Extravaganza!
Now that we are half way through October, it seems appropriate to dedicate this blog post to all things pumpkin. These links were inspired by the October newsletter from The Soap Dish. Not only are there some creative ways to decorate with pumpkins, but also some creative recipes made with pumpkin.
Let’s start with decorating. (Click the links to get directions.) Here’s a fun idea for creating Lantern Pumpkins from Country Living:
Here are some great ideas for decorating pumpkins without carving! Get four different design ideas using two tools: an apple corer and a clay-loop tool.
Ok, now for some yummy recipe ideas! First, here are the directions for roasting a fresh pumpkin. I’ve heard that there is a canned pumpkin shortage this year, so if you can’t find it on the shelf, you may need to use a fresh one!
This looks like something I definitely need to try: Pumpkin French Toast with Crunchy Cinnamon Crust from recipegirl.com:
Our family has pancakes for breakfast every Thursday morning. Lately, I have added some pumpkin to our recipe:
1 c. whole wheat flour
2 T. raw sugar
2 1/4 tsp. baking powder
3/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. cloves
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1 c. milk
1 egg
2 T. oil
1/2 c. pumpkin puree
Mix wet and dry ingredients separately, then whisk together. Hopefully you know the rest about how to pour it on the griddle and cook both sides. So yummy!!
Well, I’m hungry now! Enjoy!
