First, I have to start by wishing MY mother a very happy birthday – she is 60 today! Fortunately, our family got to celebrate with her a little bit early a couple weeks ago with my brother & his family:

There IS a difference between a handmade lotion and the lotions you find at the store. Number one difference is that most lotions you find at the store (even your favorite bath & body store) are made with petrolatum or mineral oil. You won’t find very many with aloe vera juice as the first ingredient. And I would be very surprised if you found one with a natural preservative. (I use citric acid and silver citrate.) Get rid of the gunk, and discover the difference of a handmade natural lotion on your skin!

New Garage Sale Items Added

This is for the soapmakers out there – everyone else can ignore this post (unless you want to hear about the soap I made today).

I’ve updated my garage sale page with a few more items. A couple fragrances, an extract, some Dead Sea salt, and a soap beveler. Of course, there were still a few remaining items from the last listing, so go check it out! You might find some treasures!

Also made two new batches of soap today – one set up too fast, so I had to improvise a bit. Hoping it will turn out ok. The other one behaved perfectly. I will share photos tomorrow after I’ve had a chance to cut them.

Wooden Soap Dish

Finally, I wanted to let you know that I put the wooden soap dishes on the website! These are the dishes I included for free with the purchase of a Handmade Soap Combo Deal before Christmas. I have just 3 left in stock right now, but they will likely be re-ordered at some point. (Sorry, that was pretty vague!)

We had a snow day here, and I had plans to put my girls to work counting all the packaging supplies that are stowed away in the basement. But it hasn’t happened that way. I’m still putting it off. I would much rather be making soap and re-stocking lip butters and shea butters, but I know I need to take care of inventory FIRST. There’s a good chance the girls will be home again tomorrow…we had at least 6 inches on the ground, and they are predicting at least another six. Very rare to get this much snow around here. Holiday Soap Status

If you’re like me, it’s time to start checking your lists and make sure everyone has a gift. Most of mine are already purchased, but I still have a few to pick up. Or, in the case of my dad, I have NO IDEA!! If anyone has suggestions, I’m open! He’s 62, still working his own construction business, not really into sports, books or movies. My mom has a gluten allergy, so gift cards to restaurants are generally out. My budget is about $40…and my last resort is ANOTHER shirt.

Ok, enough of my woes. Here are a couple soap updates for you:

1. Cherries & Chestnuts is back in stock! After this soap sold out early in the season, I received several requests for it. It really is an amazing scent for a beautiful soap! Oh, and did I mention that this was a clearance fragrance? I honestly don’t know if I can find any more. I know!!!!

2. Peppermint is available for purchase at Greatcakessoapworks.com. It’s sort of a pre-order though, because it won’t technically be ready until Saturday. So if you buy some now, your order won’t ship until the 12th. Still plenty of time before Christmas! I believe there are still 19 bars left, but I am NOT making any more until next season.

There’s Only One

What is it about getting the LAST cookie, or the LAST pair of shoes in your size, or the LAST one of your favorite soap? I thought you might want to know that there’s only one Black Raspberry Creme soap left. (Although I just made another batch today, it won’t be ready until September 29th.) I have this scent in a matching Jojoba-Shea Lotion as well. You might need both.
